What an interesting post with a heated discussion. I suppose one shall not compare the brands but shall compare watches. I would like to leave 3 unbiased thoughts on the subject and a personal opinion.

1) PP are very wearable and this aspect is often looked upon when compared to others. People mentioned ALS, so I'll use it as an example. We all praise Lange double split and triple split for the insane innovations and craft. But these watches are 15 mm t

That’s some lovely picks

For me.. 5178 (cream dial) 5970 5074 5070 5712 (or 3712) 5074 and 5070 shares the same case design but it doesn’t feel right to leave out either of them I wanted to squeeze in a time calatrava but couldn’t find a ref worthy to be in the top 5

I have always been biased for

Arabic or breguet numerals.. this ladies MR is also very attractive with the officer style case, ref 7004R - but printed numerals (as opposed to 5178’s applied)

Ref. 5178G-001

Presented in 2017, this watch features a minute repeater utilising cathedral gongs and a cream ‘grand feu’ (great fire – ceramics fired at high temperatures) enamel dial. Grand feu dials require multiple firings to build up layers to create a vitreous lik

I think it’s a lot individual taste

For me the cream dials from the 5078G and the 5178G didn’t fit with my skin, the complete reference 5078 was for me to small on the wrist on the one hand, and on the other hand I like the cathedral gong much more, but it’s all about individual taste and f

I think someone is calling me here... ;-)) Very appreciative of Patek's direction in this area, my friend, though even within our clear "modernization" efforts in the design department, I agree it was sensitive to include both straps with this piece.

The blue dial already offers quite a significant departure from the 5078 and earlier 5178, especially for such a classical complication as a MR, so I can understand that some collectors may prefer less "impactful" versions when it comes to design and choi

Patek Philippe 5178G-012 NEW MINUTE REPEATER 2023

After hearing the Patek Philippe news, I have to say that the new Reference 5178G-012 is an absolutely remarkable watch. It has a hand-guilloched dial covered with enamel, which appears in many different colors depending on the incidence of light. In add

The 5178 is indeed great…

…heard a couple of MRs in the Salon and must say that this piece had the best sound 🎼🎶 For me it was just topped by the 5208 in whole, but this is even more unobtainable 😳. Don Justino, I think for you the 5178G would be perfect ☝️8(as the LUC Full Strike
